As one of Europe’s leading luxury hotels, the protection of valuable works of art is a top priority in order to offer discerning guests a unique ambience. A new era in the luxury hotel industry was ushered in with a renovation project lasting several months, and the requirements for a modern security solution were correspondingly high.

Security and protection of the valuable paintings, photographs and exhibits have top priority. The main objective was to provide a highly functional and integrable security system that works reliably and efficiently.

The NOX SYSTEMS solution offers comprehensive protection for the hotel’s extensive art collection. The flexibility and versatility of the system were crucial, as the system can be controlled centrally and at the same time customized for every requirement.

The use of NOX TXO for monitoring the paintings made it possible to secure the valuable works of art inconspicuously. By installing the system on the walls and without direct contact with the artworks, the system could be integrated discreetly. This type of installation prevents physical damage to exhibits and guarantees seamless monitoring.

The small system is lightweight and can be used in a variety of ways. Its unique equipment with the finest sensors makes the optical wireless detector a multi-talent. On the one hand, the IR sensor (infrared), which works without contact, is impressive. Secondly, the three-axis acceleration sensor detects every movement, while other highly sensitive and calibrated sensors determine the temperature and humidity values. All data is transmitted by radio – rounded off by LoRa® technology, which ensures interference-resistant communication between transmitters and receivers in addition to the long range. The evaluation is carried out via the NOX control center, which sends the desired alarm accordingly. Thanks to bidirectional communication, the device settings can be made centrally and individually.

The high flexibility, the wide range of applications and the fact that “nothing” has to be attached to the paintings were decisive factors for the luxury hotel in choosing NOX TXO. The modern image surveillance system can also be integrated into the existing alarm and security system without any additional effort.

Installers today are faced with a multitude of challenges. The tense situation in the construction industry, the regulatory introduction of the KRITIS umbrella law and NIS2, to name but a few, require more expertise and advice than ever before. In a dynamic environment, strong partnerships are an important factor for installers to successfully deliver projects. A successful project begins with a clear definition of customer requirements and security objectives. Often, the customer’s specific needs are not adequately addressed in the bidding and design phases, resulting in a finished building that does not meet the desired security functions. For large projects in particular, it is essential that security is included in the design from the outset, rather than being an afterthought.

Forward-thinking planning is critical to meeting the future needs of a building. It is important to plan for sufficient reserves from the outset and to provide for flexible installations that allow for future expansion. Since buildings tend to grow and evolve over time, flexibility and a long-term perspective are essential.

Integrated tools are now available for error-free implementation, such as calculating voltage drop or total power consumption. Premium manufacturers such as NOX SYSTEMS offer corresponding functions in the Config Tool to avoid costly planning errors.

The more experience there is with a system, the smoother the implementation. Especially for installers with many employees working on many projects, the installer’s expertise is a key success factor, in addition to the choice of manufacturer. The installer needs to have a good understanding of the customer’s challenge and the product application. It therefore makes sense to work with manufacturers who have a holistic approach and can support all projects, whether they are securing a global bank, a medium-sized manufacturing facility or a private villa with valuable exhibits.

For installers, there is often a conflict between the convenience requirements of the customer and the security requirements of the insurer. While the customer may prefer an easy-to-use solution, the insurer may reject it as too insecure. A well-chosen system can meet both needs by providing a customized security solution that satisfies both the customer and the insurer.

The goal was to build a large, scalable security system while replacing the old system without disrupting hospital operations. On the one hand, the hospital needed integrations for the pneumatic tube system, the laundry system and the elevators (KONE). On the other hand, it needed a system that could handle special requests, either as a solution in the native system or as an external application.

Skåne Region is investing heavily in the expansion and modernization of security solutions at Helsingborg Hospital. Helsingborg Hospital has been under renovation since 2015. It was important for the region to have a transparent and efficient system that meets the hospital’s high security requirements.

The task was to improve care and the working environment, and to create an emergency hospital that would be ready for the changing needs of the future. The new hospital should be flexible with an infrastructure that can grow with the times.

Region Skåne has chosen the NOX System as the new intrusion detection and access control system for the hospital. The main reasons are the flexibility of the system, the ability to integrate with other systems in the organization, and a scalable system architecture without recurring licensing costs.

In the hospital, the NOX System was installed in both the old and new buildings, along with card readers, Simons Voss radio doors on the medicine cabinets, and locking cylinders from the same manufacturer on the medicine carts.

NOX SIMS – a threat detection system for all areas

The overarching NOX SIMS platform tracks all users in conjunction with the hospital’s schedules, from which alarm and access control systems can be controlled. NOX SIMS is also integrated with the hospital’s other systems, including elevator control and the pneumatic tube system.

“We chose NOX because we wanted an open system with the capacity for large facilities. The system is very flexible and we were able to influence the development, which was a requirement from the beginning,” says Tord Johansson, operations expert at Region Services.

Unique codes for card readers – practical security solutions for hospitals

ARAS Security and Swedsecur also provided a one-time code solution for the hospital’s card readers. This solution arose from the need for staff to escort and grant access to visitors and patients between departments. The solution, a web application developed by ARAS Security, allows staff to easily create temporary codes tailored to the individual visitor.

ARAS Security continues to work on the digitalization of the hospital and together with Swedsecur has developed integrations between the NOX Systems and the hospital’s pneumatic tube, waste and laundry systems. Integration with the elevator system is also planned.
